Bain & Company Hi all! Anyone with a view on what work/life balance is like in Strategy Consulting in Paris? I’m considering a move from London, but have heard mixed reviews on what the working culture is like in Paris.

I think people in Paris are more laid back. You will work most likely no later than 5, office is beautiful
Thanks that’s helpful feedback!
Worse hours there than in London, allegedly. Haven’t experienced it, but heard from friends 🤷♂️
This is what I’ve heard too but then have also heard comments like the one above haha
I think you are ok in Paris, it's the Italian offices that has a reputations of 'workholics' 😃
- depends on your seniority but as a regular consultant slightly longer hours in Paris: 8pm is frequent + usual consulting requirements. However longer lunch breaks than in London :)
- can be difficult to socialize if you don’t speak French (hence comments about less inclusive- it’s a language barrier really). Same with hierarchy or chill culture: it is very chill in paris and not hierarchical, just that if you don’t speak French you’ll be stuck in your silo doing your thing
- more paid leave (6 weeks ish excluding public holidays)
- higher taxes
Everyone has different experiences I guess :) (for context I also worked abroad and in paris in consulting)
Also firm culture obviously has a big impact on the office culture
Within McK - it is pretty similar across Europe offices except in southern Europe (Italy Spain and Portugal)
I have worked in Paris, London and Amsterdam and pretty similar working hours: very dependant on the engagement you are working on
Work: lot
Life: close to none
Balance: negative
😂
