For CIPP/US or any IAPP certs, do you recommend purchasing the study materials through IAPP’s site (which appears to be about $1,000), or is utilizing a 3rd party study aid (such as Privacy Bootcamp’s website) recommended? Thank you!

My method for passing IAPP certs is usually taking the CertMike LinkedIn Learning course while reading the study guide associated with the course. It’s a great resource to make the concepts more understandable. (Know they currently have this for the CIPP/US and CIPM)

Then read the IAPP book associated with the specific cert. Then take the IAPP practice exam ($55) and the test bank provided by CertMike when you purchase the study guide.

After I reread the areas I did not do well in practice exam and schedule the test.

Hope this helps!

The IAPPs materials are good, obviously, but the price probably isn't worth it unless you really don't practice or have background in privacy at all.

Getting the book is worthwhile though

No. Buy the 30.00 book and study on your own

I read the book, used flash cards on Quizlet, and took some practice tests. I think if you’re a lawyer, it’s pretty easy to grasp the material.

This is an old thread but would you mind sharing the link to the quizlet you used?

Thank you for the feedback! One question: what is the “book” you are referencing? Is the book the same as the digitally downloadable prep material for the IAPP cert exams you buy online through IAPP’s website for just over $1k?

The books are between $60-70. You can get digital or physical copies. Check the IAPP store.

Has the exam gotten this hard? I took it 5- years ago and read the book on vacation during a 12 hour plane ride. Took the exam when I got off the plane at the destination and then proceeded to have my vacation.
