3 folks that I have hired and trained are being offered a Director position above me. I am so proud of them, but I need advice… When I asked why I was not considered, the only reasons that came up were the following: *1. Less college education 2. My age. I am young. 3. Less experience with Landlords.* I have been with this company for quite a while and my goals have been clear. When I asked what I needed to do over the past 2 years to achieve Director, these 3 issues were not mentioned.
Early stage startup or startup in the process of being acquired by a big tech giant. . .
Both with a similar comp structure...
Early stage startup includes a higher quota, 10% commission on closed business, and series A stock equating to roughly 0.15% ownership in company...
Which one do you take, and why?

I am a 3rd year senior associate in alternative investment tax and up for manager promotion this year. I really dislike the long hours of this job and seeking to make a move. Although I’m not sure i necessarily want to stay in tax. I have a young toddler at home and want to find a job i like, makes decent money, and has decent hours so i can spend more time with family.
Has anyone been in a similar position and made a move? Can you please share your experience? Thanks!

Hello. Can anyone help me with a tech case please? Have an interview coming up with FAANG
In other news, ACB got more questions about Hunter Biden during her Supreme Court hearings than Joe Biden did last night in TWO hours. That is just beyond pathetic.
Where can I learn about different career tracks or levels for FAANG companies to understand career progression? For example which level is equivalent to analyst or entry plus and what are the salary ranges?
After Psaki defended keeping him on after a one week suspension so fervently and that was naturally not received well, the Biden Administration booted TJ Ducklo and made him resign. He did apologize and send a note.
Considering an MD position at Accenture and need to give comp expectation, its on Strategy side. Of course its based on my own need and desire, but like to hear from (ex)MDs at Accenture if 400k sounds like a reasonable ask for base. And can anyone help me understand the difference between L4 and L3? For reference, I am a Senior Principal with almost 2 years executive industry experience post consulting. Thanks for any insights!
Anyone subletting for now to Nov or Dec?
I know we hate prestige/rankings... but curious how consultants feel:
Where does Microsoft rank amongst FANG-type companies? Are they at the same level as FANG or a step below?
This has not been super clear to me during the interview process.

My TCS form 16 shows total amount deducted for health insurance premium. In ITR 1 you need to put premium for self and parents separately. So how do you show it in ITR1? Tata Consultancy HCL Technologies IBM
Additional Posts in Law Partners
My law firm and I were ranked as band 1 by Chambers and Partners in Afghanistan but I lost everything due to Taliban take over of the country. I had to flee the country and just moved to Canada. Any tips on where should I start from?
New equity partner here in firm with 220 lawyers and nearly half are partners. Any advice for these next few years?
How do you split origination credit?
Ideas for client gifts this year? Typically has been a nice bottle of wine, but only to the clients I had previously shared drinks with so I knew they were wine drinkers.
What is the general consensus on long term origination credit for basically “knowing a guy” at the client? More below
For those of you in states that are starting to open back up, any thoughts/reservations/pressure to start back with client development happy hours/dinners?
Looking for comps for summer interns. For context, college grads who want to figure out if they will go to law school someday.
Junior-ish partner at highly profitable big firm. Frustrated that I’ll likely be no more than 2nd or 3rd partner in line on clients for at least the next 10 years or so. Any solutions other than bringing in my own clients (incredibly difficult at our rates)? I’m not seeing any…
Can anyone opine on market salary/guaranteed draw/comp structure for a non equity partner in NYC doing plaintiff side securities litigation?
Hello all, I am a partner of new small law partnership and we’re still trying to figure out the business side of the practice. For partnerships, are you splitting everything 50/50?
If you are, do you ever feel as if you’re contributing more than your other partner and how do you account for that?
Are you doing monthly distributions?
Is there a standard/typical “deal” for lateral partner compensation at AmLaw 100-200ish firms? I’m hearing one firm offers 25% originations / 25% of working attorney hours (WAC) and another article I read used a similar structure as an example, but wondering what the norm is, or if there is one?
Does your firm still give origination credit to the partner, if the client called the firm for help and that partner signs up the client?
Developing a partnership track / program at our boutique firm. We’re 5 years old and have some incredible talent that I’d like to retain - and offer growth opportunities.
The big firm models just don’t jive with our structure - revenue is still a bit unpredictable and the team is relatively new/green. Has anyone developed a less conventional p-ship model? How do I give “credit” (if at all) for their experience before joining our firm?
Due to wfh, we are going virtual for files. No redwelds. Not having paper makes me nervous but I recognize I need to adapt. Anyone have tips they’ve discovered to help the transition? For context, we are a real estate boutique, no litigation. We long ago stopped keeping any original documents (client gets all originals) so that isn’t an issue.
The managing partner of my firm just announced we’re moving from back to the office 2 days a month to 3 days a week and I’m pissed. None of the other partners were consulted about this decision and there’s just no reason for it given the type of law we practice. I do the majority of my work alone. I’m considering just ignoring this mandate. Has anyone done this? If so, were there any repercussions?
Any youngish partners relocate to another state? Would love to move and can probably stay with my same firm but worried about my ability to maintain my growing book of current clients as well as develop new ones in a new area (start all over).
I keep getting surprised each month by our firm financial reports indicating we are relatively on track with our pre-Covid budget, while also watching our overall billable hour numbers for the year continue to go down. So, it is really 2021, when our 2020 backlog AR won’t be rolling in, that I should really be planning to hunker down for?? Seems a bit like the disconnected stock market to economy.
Tips on how to deal with associates and support staff that have clearly regressed during this wfh period? When is it time to start letting them go?
For those firms with multiple equity partners: (1) how did/do you structure buy-in for a new equity partner? (2) how did you value your business for the buy-in? (3) how are equity partners’ compensation packages structured?
