Has anyone gotten to the point where it is physically painful to try and concentrate? Not sure what to do at this point; had Ritalin for a bit, but I adjusted in like 10 days before the benefits went away. Now I’m scared I’ll just keep getting worse

The only thing that works for me when I have one of those days is exercise! I always save my difficult/tedious work for post-workout. I wfh so it's easier to squeeze in, but if you go into the office try at least getting in a walk, or work out in the morning. See if it helps any.

Try a different med. I wasn’t a huge fan of Ritalin way back. Meditating in 5 min bursts also helps me get in the zone

I always get tired when I'm not busy enough, or don't have enough to stimualte my brain. Once I've started getting tired, there's very little to break me out of the slump until I get home and get into my personal zone to recharge. Taking breaks to listen to something to switch gears in the brain (music helps me a lot) helps to keep me going at least for the day.

Same 😭😭 I always get that second wind once the weight of boredom is lifted.

Have you talked to your therapist about this? If you haven't, I think this is the right time to do so. It took me a while to find the right medicine and the right dose. I once helpless because I think I have the worst case just because my meds don't seem to benefit me. Keep trying, OP! I know you'll get there eventually.

Hey. I feel you. I had the same experience last year and I took a break from work. Relax your mind and take a breather.

Hi! I’m a young professional with less than 2 years experience, started a new job 1.5 months ago. I’m having quite some difficulties on balancing out my response time to tasks. While I act incredibly fast if not immediately with some, I sometimes take 1-2 weeks with couple of hours worthy ones. Sometimes I ignore, procrastinate or simply other more urgent things come up to increase the delay. Also I work with 3 managers in my team which doesn’t help with expectations nor guidance. Any tips pls?

So today was my first day on a stimulant (diagnosed as an adult), and everyone says its suppose to feel like *boom* magic, or normal (?) , I guess. Knowing that is figurative, what should I actually be expecting? I feel mostly the same, I think, though I came in and actually did started my work today. But I mean, somedays I do that...I just don't want to psyche myself out if I'm expecting too much. Or pscyhe myself in if I actually might not be experiencing what I should.

I just started meds yesterday and the change in my focus and attention to detail is mind blowing. My only concern is, just yesterday I had a tough feedback session with my manager around how I’m taking too long to complete my work, giving them anxiety around close deadlines. I’m new in the job (3 months in). Should I explain anything about my adhd to my manager or just wait for them to notice the change in me?

Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.
