What are your views on promotions — should they ALWAYS be driven by the employee (“I want a promotion. How do I make this happen?”) vs. the manager (“I think you’re ready to grow into a new role”)? I recently got a new manager who aligns with my career interests, but both of us are still under my previous manager who treats people as resources. I’m bitter about the upward progress of peers on other teams (w/ better managers), a combo of FOMO + feeling like I’ve failed myself.

Does having a Google project management certification hold weight when applying to jobs and leveraging skills?

Prepping for PM interviews is insane and all of these companies know how contrived it is. I don’t get it.

Hi, so I’ve been working as a (TCP temporary creative professional) while one of the agency’s employees was on leave. I understood it to be a FT position, clocking in, etc but last week a bunch of employees were on vacation and I didn’t get projects. My work from the week before was all approved, so I had no edits. I asked for work, reached out, etc but ended up with very few billable hours, which annoyed the bosses. Now I’m not sure how to proceed. Do I NGAF, clock in? Or wait for work?

Would welcome any suggestions for preparing for a BCG R1 (and hopefully beyond) in 3 weeks without a ton of interview/case experience. I don’t have a decent variety of consulting experience (and was in a non-business career before D) and didn’t make it past a Bain R1 earlier this year.

Looking for some advice: I have two internship offers. 1. Wells Fargo control operations. Remote, decent pay, not quite sure if something I’ll do in the future but seems like it would be great experience. Slow interview process and basically had 2 identical interviews with different people. 2. A local commercial real estate firm. In person, great pay, interested in the CRE but worried about growth opportunities. Great interview process and the people and culture are great from what I hear.

Layoffs and hiring freeze in Tech - is it starting? I was tracking Robinhood doing 10% layoffs, Netflix starting layoffs (mostly marketing dept), hiring freeze at Meta/Facebook, Adobe, Amex.

Currently looking for a job opportunity specific to Talent Acquisition/Recruiting, as I want to get out of the Generalist realm. From the employers I've recently interviewed with, they average 15-20 reqs at a time. Any tips for transitioning from slow recruiting (around 4 at a time) in the generalist role to a high number of reqs?
