So my ultimate goal is to be in deals advisory/TAS team. I spent about 9 months in risk assurance at PwC. I requested to transfer into their core line, but it didn’t work out so I’m now accepting a role at EY within their FSO assurance team to get that GAAP|financial statement experience. Anyone have any recommendations/advice on how to eventually get to deals?

I am leaving consulting after 7~ years. 2+Y in my current firm.
The goods: Generally young talented people, global though leaders, international collaboration and a brand in my cv.
The bads: Distributed ownership with short-term vision in the business units, we would enage any project in any client as long as it counts for the partner. And we would use the margin as an input, not as a result, so we would be forced to understaff projects so numbers look good. Politics and promises that never came

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I am planning to shift to Data Analyst/Data scientist role. Right now i work for a project where I'm a software eng & we have to maintain our application on C++ code. It is more like support/dev and unit testing combined. Coding is hardly involved and my hold on DS is weak so not sure if I'll be able to crack technical interviews for C++ dev or anything similar.
So is this a right decision to move from application dev role to Data Science/analyst field? Does software engineer gets paid more?
