Hi Everyone! It’s almost the end of the year and I decided that it’s time for a change in my career. I have been working as a business analyst at JNJ, with about 4 years of experience and halfway done with my MBA. I would like to move into a project management role (I have worked on my scrum master certification). I make about 68k a year and I feel like I’m due for a huge pay raise. I have been asking 105k-120k which companies have been open to. Am I asking for the appropriate amount?

Have you ever looked at Colorado’s pay scale. The best thing about Colorado is that pay ranges are public. So if anything go based on that and remember you’re experienced and don’t ever low ball yourself!

I never thought about asking for their range, I just assume they wouldn’t answer the question. I think I’m going to be wary of that for other interviews I do. Thank you!

Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience. Understanding that the degreed person committed to school and finished, yet that doesn't diminish what the not degreed has committed to and accomplished in their careers. This has to stop!
