Bowl Leader
I can tell my personal experience, when my child got diagnosed at 2 years, my kid is now 7 years
Therapies are multiple like speech, occupational, etc and it will be overwhelming initially to understand what is going on..
On top of that, I joined a new /big team at that time ( this was when Accenture Digital was just formed)
Trying to do 2 new things did not work for me, also my boss changed making it more complicated
I went back to an area of work I am comfortable and the work was flexible, great decision if I look back, As Accenture is valuing more specialists than generalists
I did share my situation with a few leaders in my team and continue to do that every time leadership changes
I moved from being a individual contributor to focusing on building teams, make sure I found a niche that is important but no one is focusing and build team around it
I am still learning to have more empathy towards my kid when it gets very challenging in terms of behaviour
I’m hesitant about ABA the autistic community is overwhelmingly against ABA. Many parents swear by it, but autistic adults seem to condemn it.
Autistic adults do tend to support speech, OT, music therapy, etc. ABA or any sort of “behavior” therapy is generally frowned upon. I have mixed thoughts.
