Just came back from Mahekal Beach Resort in Playa del Carmen. It’s not all inclusive but breakfast is included and they give you $27 per person to redeem for either lunch or dinner. The resort is a 5 min walk from this very touristy street with shops, restaurants, lounges and so on that goes on for several blocks, so we always had dinner there. Great food, great drinks! I don’t think it’s a kid friendly resort (we didn’t see many at all) so you’ll enjoy nice and quiet with your SO.
Thank you
We stayed at the andaz mayakoba which is a very cool resort with tons of privacy, very romantic. On a huge property where you can have dinner at the other hotels there (which are higher end than the andaz) if you like. It’s not close to fifth so you’ll have to take cabs. We have also stayed at the Hyatt Playa del Carmen which is 2 min from fifth ave and on a very lively beach. Definitely not for kids :) hotel isn’t that nice, but the city vibe is pretty cool. We love walking on fifth, restaurants, street performers, casino, live music, etc
Also for Cancun itself, we love the jw Marriott when we are with our kids. Great hotel with amazing pool area, attached to the marriott which has a kids club (not the best, but pretty good). The breakfast is delicioso!
Don’t stay at the Riu properties. The food is absolutely disgusting
