Is standing up service delivery / shared services work interesting? Similar to implementation work? Hired into a legacy S&O group and have an opportunity to join a project in this area
Starting a new project in Chicago on Monday. What’s the weather like right now? Do people take Uber or Yellow Cabs? Where do people eat/stay if they’re working at the Deloitte office?
I have ptsd from a terrible accident where two people died. I nearly died myself. Every time one of you says you got ptsd from a difficult project or bad client, I want to scream.
Grateful for my support system. I burst into tears during a zoom call with a project leader today. He said the sweetest thing anyone ever said to me in years. A quick catch-up turned into a therapy session.
Been here 6 months and keep getting placed on the same client since I started. (Projects are fairly short) Haven't had a chance to network to find other projects. This sucks 😩
Trying to solve client requirements like:
Anyone here from EY Tysons Corner (Assurance Service Line) want to tell me about the firm culture, is it a great learning environment, client base? I got an offer for Senior 1 but want to be sure I’m making the right decision to go Big 4 or jump down to mid-tier. SN: I started at a smaller National firm but left years ago for industry so I’ll be coming in somewhat starting from square 1 but at a senior 1 level.
I’m a new associate on a transformation project and am on multiple hours of calls each day. Most of the time have no idea what’s going on and often space out or go on phone. I know that’s bad but just am drained from all the new lingo. Also I’m supposed to take notes but they’re bad notes bc I’m confused most of the time. Any advice on how to be more engaged and/or take better notes?
When bored in your project city...eat ice cream 🍦🍦🍦
My intern was assigned the role of “strategist” on an intern-project and they asked me “Wait, so I just have think about stuff, I don’t actually have to DO anything??”
Any suggestions on how I should tell my full time client & team that I’m leaving the firm without anything else lined up?
I was working with a racist bigot client before covid hit and tonight I'm especially glad I don't have to fly in to see his stupid face in the morning. I'm glad none of us have to go into an office after nights like tonight.
Been flying to client for the last month and I have had a enough. Going to put in my two weeks. Hopefully don’t have to fly to the client site again. How bad of a look is this? Extremely toxic environment as both internal firm politics and client politics are in play here and I’m basically the last member of the engagement team that hasn’t been replaced left.
Anyone else feel insecure when the junior resource on your project is performing top notch, gets a lot of PPD visibility. I know I shouldn’t feel this way and support their career but somehow getting anxious over it. Any tips / guidance?
My manager is incapable of admitting when he’s wrong, to the point where he’s let me use the wrong formulas on client work because he couldn’t bring himself to admit he’d given me the wrong formula.
I don't work at PwC but just heard about the digital fitness app. Seems that you'll need a PIN to login if you're not an employee or client
I'm on a reporting team with a Manager who doesn't manage strategically. He says "yes" to everything, doesn't keep meetings on track with client and SM, doesn't own anything but agrees to
Thoughts on exiting at a lateral level to the industry? Found an interesting strategy role and am in touch with the hiring team. However title is same as my current one (Sr. Associate). I know this title thing sounds superficial but wanted to get other fish’s thoughts on this 🙏
Wife and kid are going to be out of town for the next 2 weeks. Instead of wasting time, I’d like to do something productive. What would you do if you have say 3+ hours a day. Maybe self help, wealth creation type books, work out daily, take care of some things around the house.
Do you take interviews if recruiters say your comp requirements are “a bit out of range, but we could get approved for more?”
I haven’t even finished the final round with the company and they are asking my passport for visa purpose already…why do rush? (Not in the states) Also I am in the process with mbb.
For those on Conditional Green Card: My lawyers have filed for the removal of conditions (I-751) about 3 weeks ago but I haven’t received the application receipt yet which automatically extends my green card’s validity for 18 months. My current green card expires in 2 weeks. If I don’t receive the receipt by then, do I need to be worried or as long as the I-751 was filed before my card expires I’m okay?
Anyone got the scoop on AlixPartners? How do their non restructuring practices stack up against some of the bigger dogs: MBB, Deloitte, Accenture...any info appreciated.
Have any of you quit to take a break - 3 month or a 6 month sabbatical to pursue other interests or just to clear your head and figure out what’s next. How easy was it to find a job after the break and how did you manage your health insurance? Any other things to keep in mind when considering a sabbatical beyond money?
Am looking to pick out a daycare (pregnant now). What are key factors to keep in mind (besides obvious health and safety)? Proximity to our house? Price? Large center or small and home-run? What do you wish you'd known or paid attention to when picking out a daycare?
Piggy backing on my podcast post: I work mostly in film...when it comes to pure audio talent (radio/podcasts) are there set union rates comparable to SAG? Or can you set your own?
How common is it for associate partners to lateral into MBB? Anybody willing to do a referral for a healthcare AP from Big 4 firm? What’s the interview process like?
How important is it to get your CPA in the long run/ outside of big 4? Would CFE be beneficial? I’m a forensics staff.
Know it's still early, but want to put up a thread for holiday party insights this evening. #colorfulformals
I wonder which firms will actually give a 5.5% raise to non promotes to keep up with inflation caused by the fed.
Director of Business Development at KPMG. What should I expect in terms of compensation?
Any pen testing or red teaming jobs (cleared or commercial)? I have some practice in HTB or THM but I don’t have OSCP or GPEN. I’d think I could find a role easily especially since Deloitte has been hiring pen testers that had no certs or experience. If they are hiring people with little experience I think would have a chance with another firm or company. I’d prefer a cleared role to keep my TS clearance but I’m open to anything that pays good and will help train me and grow my experience!
Just had an interview for industry. Didn't have that warm fuzzy feeling after it like "I'm gonna get this job". UGH. I flubbed 1 question about a go to market strategy and it was downhill from there
Was going over a case with my lawyer father, which he's working on, and realized the importance and power of 'skimming' which we obviously learn and practice doing our job. I was able to glean from...
