Hi, I studied architecture but now I'm trying to switch to UX design. I took a course on Coursera about Google UX Design. I've been applying for jobs everywhere for two months now. They ask me to design something for a few days, but then they stop talking to me. It's making me feel really down and unsure if I made the right choice. Can anyone help me understand what's going on? I don't know anyone in this field, so any advice or some contacts would be awesome. Thanks for listening.

I’m convinced that the reason some of these firms are so prestigious is because they have intentionally exclusionary recruitment practices. I used to believe that you had to already be rich to get hired at MBB. Now being on the other side of the recruitment process , I really do feel that it rings true. I hate the way we evaluate candidates and decide on who is “high priority” during coffee chats.

For those trying to leave, how do you sneak interviews in?

I have an interview coming up with Church & Dwight. When the recruiter emailed me with 3 interview times I thought he was asking me what time works best. Turns out he was telling me I was scheduled for 3 different interviews for 3 different teams in one day. Has anyone heard of a company doing that or gone through this for an interview? It seems odd to me

Applied for a position in Johnson and Johnson Canada. Reached the final round 3 weeks back. After not getting any updates I emailed the HR a couple of weeks back. They responded back telling me that they’ll have an update for me the next week. Again I emailed them on Thursday asking if they have anything for me before the long weekend ( Good Friday & Easter). No response whatsoever. Will emailing them again be inappropriate? I desperately need this job
