Hi, I’m a 2024 accounting graduate currently enrolled in the CPA PEP program. I recently applied for an entry-level role that closely matches my experience and skill set. I also have a friend in a different department at the company who’s willing to refer me. I’m considering reaching out to HR on LinkedIn to express my interest more directly—would that be seen as a positive step or could it negatively impact my application?

It's a good idea, just don’t write a novel. Keep it short, direct, and mention the internal referral; that’s the part that matters. HR’s busy, but they notice people who make it easy to remember them. One message won’t hurt your application at all.

smart

I am glad I did. You will get it. For me, I learned the hard way many things about the job market, so I can make someone else's life easier. I have to do it. I hope you get the role.

How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. I tell my boss up front that, for family reasons, I’ve gotten a new job and will be moving to another city two weeks after trial will likely end. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?
