Im newish to Thermo Fisher Scientific but trying to understand the promotion cycle. It seems vertical career moves within Thermo are much more difficult than diagonal. When you are looking to move up a career band how often has that movement actually happened vertically in the team or group you work in?

Yes the promotions are little difficult in TFS. It will take 3-4 years for promotions. But there are IJPs and you can apply and move to ither divisions. But in your 1:1 you should keep asking your manager that you are expecting promotion so that they will know.

like

I was given CS my first year and told that my senior manager and the director wanted to promote me, but it was denied by the senior director due to short time in rank. Meanwhile people in adjacent departments get a promotion every year or two, so I guess it just depends who's making the decisions for your division. No one at the site here was promoted in the most recent cycle, but there have been a lot of layoffs.

I accepted a full-time role offer at Deloitte around October. I was graduating my Bachelor’s degree(120 credits), that was my last semester. Everything was smooth, signed offer, law office contacted me, submitted papers for H1B cap registration. Now HR tells me they can only start my full-time role after I get 150 credits. They want come up with options for me, they want me start with intern or part-time first until I got my 150 credits. I need help with this situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys
Had a query regarding Salesforce strategy roles.

Is it worth trying for strategy roles after 2 years in Tech Strategy projects at EY ? Or is there something more specific that I should be doing ?

Observed on LinkedIn that generally an MBA from Tier 1 University is the norm.

I am interested to apply to Salesforce in the future, if not now.

I've been a part of Scrum teams throughout my tenure as a Software Engineer.

Also, is the transition at all feasible given my around 1.5 years of work experience?

I was recently offered a “promotion” from Senior Director to… a Senior Director with a much bigger team.

I’m basically doing the same role the VP did before me (brand, campaigns, strategy, design, web, content all under me).

I was offered NO pay bump with the additional responsibility and NO title change. My base is 200k… and my highest paid direct makes 180k for doing about 1/2 the work. I get no equity because we’re private.

I work for a very profitable tech company. Is this fair?

Hi Ladies,
I’m concerned I may be underpaid and undervalued.
I am an AVP Associate Client Manager at Marsh in Energy. 3 years experience in energy- total of 10 years experience in the insurance industry formerly HNW personal. I know it’s hard to gauge but what a fair salary, glass door has 80 to 100k could that really be right?? I feel like a fool. I’ve gotten raises by fighting for them including recent promotion to AVP.

16 weeks and so worried all of the stress I’m under is going to hurt the baby. Between work, my own scary (non-pregnancy) health stuff, the pandemic, my mom (who is a widow and lives alone, basically isolated by choice due to covid) is having health issues, and pressures to keep billable hours up, I’ve been having complete breakdowns. Today I spent almost the entire day crying and now have to make up the billable time this weekend. I really worry abt what effect this will have on the babe.

I’m currently a junior associate in a boutique litigation firm handling IP. I’ve taken a depo already, will argue in court next month and by all accounts, I am great at it. But I’m miserable. I find the games with opposing counsel exhausting and I despise writing briefs (even if I’m good at it). My pre-law school job was in public relations and I chose litigation because I like to win, but I’m now realizing I like success more than the win-lose. Feeling lost… should I move to transactional?
