I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I went from $70k to $100k a little over a year ago. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand. I joined a SoftBank/Arm owned company, after the interview they showed me an unofficial spreadsheet with a bonus structure of 30% + 25% of 30% (performance based). However I was told that it’s complex so I should look at final numbers. When they made me the offer, it stated 15% bonus which I ignored because the recruiter had promised me 30% + 25% of 30% (performance based). Now, after three months he says that I will get only 15% - I feel cheated and naive for believing the recruiter.
