My last working day in TCS is 4th of March, I have rejected the retention offer. My current CTC is 13.31 LPA in TCS YOE: 11.5. Retention offer was 18LPA. Currently I am holding offers with CapeG - 20LPA, TechMahindra - 21.5LPA, HCL - 22.5 LPA.But during my call with HR in TCS regarding retention, the HR when he heard about the companies which I am holding the offers said negative comments about those companies in a deteriorating way. I feel really bad about it 🙁
That's their job mate. Don't worry. Go ahead.
Why did you share the names of company to HR? You could have skipped it.
Anyways you have good offers. Wish you good luck.
Cool then, All the best to you 🙌👍
Take retention offer if you get around 21 to 21.5LPA. The market will slump at one point and everyone with high salaries will be in danger in every company except few like TCS.
But don't listen to HR's tricks. Thank him for his advice and promptly ignore it and get to the point. Ask your expected salary. If he does not agree, leave.
Nope, people are getting hired directly by Europe and USbased Clients for 5 to 10 times the salary of Indian IT giants which siphone off from Indian Middle class lives. It won't slump.
My suggestion would be to take the retention if you're comfortable with the company. Extra 2-3 lakhs makes very very minimal difference to the salary and is not worth the trouble of going to a new company. Would suggest you to leave only if you're not comfortable with TCS. Also at this YOE, I feel TCS would be the better option among the mentioned companies.
Better money for your technology... To break into a new technology in a new company you've got to build for yourself a portfolio of small projects and be technically strong and clear interviews to command the same salary or better salary. Either that, or you should be willing to take a big paycut to get a hands on work experience with a new technology.
Thinking from a companies perspective, I'm not going to pay a 12 years exp person without any hands on experience a salary of 30 lakhs for a cloud position. I'd rather pay a 6 years exp person with full 5-6 years hands on exp a salary of 20 lakhs.
Even if the 12 years exp person asks for 20lpa I'd still hesitate unless they do really really well in the interview and can join immediately and if I'm desperate to fill up a position.
The only option to move to a different tech is to work on multiple personal projects, give multiple interviews and find out what kind of requirements are going on in that particular tech, learn those and give further interviews.
Leave TCS.
This habit of not giving hikes to existing employees is across all the service companies, not just TCS but your package is extremely low for your YOE. I’ve been with my company for 10 years (since day 1) and I make more than 20L and it’s still pretty low compared to my lateral peer group.
Also, don’t give a shit about what HR said, HCL and Cap, both are arguably better company than TCS wrt work life balance. Although a lot of it would depend on project. Only good thing about TCS is job security I guess.
Also, please make sure to mention HR by name that he/she made bad comments about other companies rather than focusing on how TCS is better than those.
Thank you for your kind words dude!
Guys, the HR who criticised will be the first person to make the switch. Since I switch from the same company as yours, I can definitely say arrogance is looming over TCS. I have met many managers and HRs in my last 6yrs and saw how arrogant they were. Now I am working in another company and I can see how good people can be. I have seen the worst people in TCS and whoever I shall come across in future all will be better.
I have seen my worst days in TCS. I wish I can simply drop the table from my conscious mind. I just lost my precious 6 yrs and my health which I shall never get back.

Agreed and could understand your frustration! Happy to know that you have landed on a good company
The reason why I have rejected the TCS retention offer is they are giving 80-100% hike to laterals. But they are neither giving good hikes nor the deserved promotion which will gives us just 10-15% raise.

@Citius - Me? 11.6

Buddy retention hike is a joke. Unless until u r getting new letter there is no assurance. I can assure u if u agree then u won't get it. Pls leave if u want to work
If u want a lazy below per level then stay
Yes, Understood. I am switching because of few things like promotion, learning curve, stagnant and comfort zone. Couldn't / Didn't care to learn anything in last few years because of this comfort zone.
My thought is, better take the offer from other company. Every company has some negative points. You will get some better experience from outside and also more connections. If u want to stay with TCS, ask for the promotion you need and ask them to send this month effective from the date which they send.
Thank you for the reply. Agreed and currently I have decided to move out from TCS 👍
Hi. I understand your case. But i would say switch, not for the money but for the challenges that it will bring on table and help you to grow.
Yes dude, I am doing it for the same reason. Thank you 😊
Firstly congratulations to you.
We should never open the name of the companies of which we hold the offer. HR will always say bad about others in order to retain you.
Go for the best offer you feel.
Chief
Never knew that, it's a learning for me. I am a sensitive person and I felt bit demotivated at that time. Now, I am feeling good 😅.BTW, Thank you!
Im looking for job in hyderabad location kindly let me know
Take the HCL offer....and don't mention the company names to HR u may not know what malicious intent they have
Understood dude. I thought the HR was genuinely asking.
I worked for TechM. So, 1 comment, once you joined TechM forget about the hikes.
2nd and most important point: if you stay with your current company TCS, make sure you change your project or at least report to a different Manager. Because once we put papers and withdraw resignation management will make life miserable. So choose carefully.
@TC3 Understood. But from Capgemini they have already told about their budget. So declined the offer with comments. TechM- I don't want to make them wait till joining date. May be I will drop an email stating the same. If they are giving counter offer then I will consider it
You could have skipped sharing names for the companies you have offers. Any way, that’s the HR tricks that they are playing out.
If you go to HCL TECH MAHINDRA, they will tell you more bad things about tcs than you know.
So forget what they say and move on
Rising Star
Thanks much dude 👍
Hi dude, does TCS give retention hike in wings program or they increase your basic and all? My lwd is 3 may.
No. Didn't got any retention offer from TCS. I am still under RMG.
@ op what did you do finally ??
Good decision
Hcl anytime
Recently have heard very negative about HCL . Could you share your view . Would like to know about appraisals, wlb
What did you do finally?
Chief
Moved out of TCS and joined HCL.
I will say check for retention terms and clause.
If the salary is increased as per current structure then, I would say staying will be better with a difference of 2-3 lakhs.
But, as per my knowledge, the difference in salary is added as a new component in the CTC without changing the current ones. There are some terms and clause with this new component tha tit can be revoked and changed later.
So, consider that too.
Chief
Thanks dude, but I have moved out of TCS. There were no new components, they were adding it to existing fixed and variable components only. but still it wasn't matching the ECTC.
Hi, same situation , 3 yr exp with 4.5 ctc. Offer in hand 12 ctc . Tcs hr yet to come for retention discussion. What is the maximum tcs can offer, Any idea with your experience with tcs hr.
