How busy are energy/infrastructure focused M&A groups right now? My group had seriously slowed, but I’ve heard others are still going strong??

Only K&E is busy. Everyone else not so much it seems like

Fairly busy here as well. We’re getting large infrastructure project work including data centers and captive power projects for such data centers. Tax credit transfer deals also seem to be humming along.

We are very busy.

No, most of the tax credit dependent stuff is fairly slow at the moment. Large infrastructure deals are pushing forward (and we obviously do a lot of those) and there are enough bright spots in specific sectors of infrastructure (data centers and power come to mind) to keep everyone busy. The beauty of K&E is we also have the restructuring hedge if things really go off the rails.

Very busy as well

Very busy. Billed 220 in April and not slowing down.

Busy in March. Very slow in April. Things seem to be picking up a bit, but still fairly slow on the M&A front. Tolling agreements, PPAs, EPCs, and other project development deals have been popping off.

Agree with this on slow on m&a front but all the other development agreements and PPAs are pretty busy

I’m really discouraged. My after tax / after 401k contributions etc. take home pay is $6,500 monthly. I have $60,000 in savings / stocks for a down payment but even looking at a $550,000 home, my monthly payment would be about $3,400 from the calculators I’ve been using. Is that too high?

So discouraged that houses where I live are about 50% higher than what they were 2 years ago, and now interest rates are around 5.25% for my credit score. This is like a 1750 sq foot home

Do most firms start reporting years in September or January? Prior firm did an August year for counting hours and then another did January (both Amlaw 200). Looking at an Amlaw 100 to lateral in the fall (so trying to anticipate how much of the year I’ll have). I’ll ask what bonus/reporting year but just curious if most follow the same.

I’m a non-TX immigration attorney mentoring a UT student who went to my undergrad. He’s done incredibly well in OCI and pre-OCI. Thus far, he’s landed interviews with (all in Houston): Baker Botts, Sidley Austin, Kirkland, Winston Strawn, Reed Smith, Norton Rose, and Locke Lord. Also Perkins Coie in Dallas. He’s leaning transactional, but also open to litigation. Any insights/advice on these firms in the TX market? Any to avoid?

I wasn’t sure which bowl to solicit advice from so hoping to catch a bite here. I’m currently in ID. Of course, I want OUT! My interests are L&E and corporate. My options are 1) wait it out where I am in hopes to switch to L&E or 2) in house oil and gas industry transactional work. What would you do and why? I figured this bowl being specific to Texas would understand importance of oil and gas industry.
