How different are your 30s? In my late 20s now and curious to hear about changes I’m likely to experience (physically and mentally).

Get into the habit of flossing. Take advantage of tooth cleaning and other preventative dental services your insurance will cover. If you grind your teeth, get a mouth guard. I'm amazed at how many people in their 30s.are basically getting their teeth replaced already

It’s like your 20’s but with more money. No major difference

Having said that
work out
eat healthy
drink in moderation

That’s good to know. Feel like I could’ve done more in my 20s and hoping I’d have the energy to do it all in my 30s.

like

Physically, I'm not that different

Mentally, I don't care what anyone thinks about me anymore which is liberating

like

Not really

If I try to cram new material for like 6+ hours though, my brain tells me to chill

The warranty runs out at 30 years.

A LOT of it comes down to your metabolic age, but if you don't focus on your fitness, you can expect the following-
Lower energy, hair loss, weight gain, insulin resistance (potential cause of diabetes), muscular stiffness, reducing flexibility, potential mid-life crisis

Positives- (hopefully) more life clarity, reduced debts, reduced FOMO

Just turned 36 here; father of 3.

MC1 is on track. Ive been lifting and doing HIIT for over a decade; constant lifting regiment. I was a runner before that. Tried numerous cycles of supps and workouts and gaining/cuts - as a consultant.

I have always had and still have some body dysmorphia, but I can tell you that I get stopped all the time and asked about how I maintain at this age.

As long as my wife still likes my pec pops, I’m golden.

After 35 then you notice a difference, diet , sleep and exercise are key. Less desire for late nights as recovery time is longer

So true

All really good advice here, but the biggest one I noticed was the hangovers. Noticed it at 30 but definitely got worse around 35 and 40. Losing a full day, sometimes 2 days, to hangovers can happen and it’s awful.

Definitely drink in moderation and be very careful about big events or celebrations where shots are flowing. Shots will ruin you next couple of days no question.

Depends if you have kids. 30’s were same cause I could work out 5 days a week and relax…then kids came and my body is not what it used to be and mentally much more stress.

like

In my experience, kids add about 30 years…

Wear sunscreen.
Take daily multivitamins.
Lift heavy (and you can due to bone density).
Care more about YOUR time and how it’s used.
Accentuate your features.
Get a financial advisor and invest.
Go to the damn doctor to get “it” checked (whatever it is).
Don’t sell yourself short.
Love isn’t a Disney storybook - it’s work (on you and your partner both).
Have passion and give it all.

That’s your 30s - if you’re learning on the way.

like

Depends where you live and how you live. I j know people that were in their 30s by the time they were 26.

like

Sounds a lot like me, haha.

Mentally you feel the same. Physically, you can feel the same if you take care of your body, or it can start showing signs of aging if you don't

6-2 220 is past overweight and into obese...maybe try something else ch1

As a man, your testosterone drops by 1% every year after 30. Healthy diet / exercise etc. becomes critically important to offset (disclaimer: I am under 30)

30s are great. More money. Less worry over stupid crap. Almost 34.

Focus on you - hobbies, healthy habits, and experiences. I am amazed at the delta of some people my age looks wise compared to me. It certainly takes more work to stay healthy but not overly so. I just see so many people overweight, losing hair, and just look sickly. Take care of yourself!

like

You become much more self-aware in your 30’s. At least I did. And hangovers last for a week and everything just generally hurts.

like

I’m surprised by a few of the responses. I didn’t notice any significant changes to my body during that decade. I had more disposable income, more friends and hobbies, and found I didn’t care as much about what people thought of me. I was more confident and really hit my stride at work. My 40s have been been even better mentally, but definitely noticed that I have to do more physical activity to stay fit.

I jus turned 38 and love the fact that I couldn’t care less about what others think of me. This was NOT how I felt in my 20s and it’s so liberating. I don’t put up with stuff (like relationships with friends, family, working 65 hour weeks, etc) that isn’t healthy for me. We don’t have kids yet, so I can’t comment on how that has changed me, but I do take sleep seriously now. If I’m not in bed by 10:30pm I turn into an absolute monster. My 25 year old self would have died. Lol

Also, I’ve noticed the older I get the FASTER time flies. Take your bucket list seriously now, and don’t wait for “right time”.

like

Similar to 20s but body aches last longer and health scares become serious. So whatever you do focus on eating well and maintaining your health!

It’s similar to your 20s except your hobbies and toys get more expensive.

I'm only 33 but so far it's been almost unbiguously better

Sounds stupid but what kinds of sessions should I be asking when my team asks for what they can offer (as a freebie lol)

Hi all,
I’m currently working for a small technical consulting start-up firm. I make good money, have great benefits, and they seem very happy with the work I’m doing, so I know I could move up quickly. However, tech consulting is definitely not my dream job. I want to get into data analytics, and I have an offer from a big company to do just that. I’ve only been at my current company for about 8 months, but I don’t ever see myself loving this job. How do I know when it’s time to make a change?
