They know that they are making a difference in the lives of the inmates they work with and are helping to maintain public safety. They also have a strong support network, both among their fellow officers and their families.
Correctional officers endure what their job entails by developing a tough skin and a strong sense of duty. They know that their job is not an easy one, but they also know that it is important. They see the good that they do every day, and that helps them to keep going when things get tough.
Many times these people get a point of comfort in this kind of work, let's say that rights are not the most important thing and it is clear that your power as an official is greater within those walls than the power that a policeman can have in the streets.
Many times they say that the one who could not be a police officer becomes a prison officer, this is nonsense because the formations are totally different despite the fact that the police are stressed in the streets, the prison officers have to see the same enemies every day.
