There’s no I in team but there’s def an I in win 🤷🏼♀️
Is that I reserved for me or my M
Dude this is what PTO is for. Does BCG no longer do working norms sessions and/or do you not have a PTO coordinator?
Also continuous weekend work (unless you’re on DD) should never be the expectation. Work that out with your PL and office PTO team as necessary.
Fuck that there an I in am team.
People must be held accountable.
Without an I you will possible get a one or two useless people on the team which screws up the whole team dynamic.
If you only knew how many hours are spent in pointless meetings at higher levels, you'd understand. What I'd recommend is requesting documented feedback on tasks throughout the year from anyone you've help.
Hello manager, I'm really proud of this task, would you please write up a recommendation for me based on its completion. If you could mention metric a, metric b and metric c in your feedback I would really appreciate it.
Don't be afraid to give your managers deliverables.
The countless hours in worthless meetings at higher levels in one reason why I want to quit.
Impossible to get anything of tangible value done.
Chief
What level are you? What level is everyone else on your team?
My M has actually stood in the way of progression. He’s got $$ signs in his eyes but I’m only busting ass because I’m not in the business of publishing poor work.
Thank you P1 🙏🏻
I know how you feel but I’m a manager so that’s expected. Sorry you feel this way. Two thoughts:
- we are a profession that attracts people who tend to feel a strong sense of responsibility. This can go into overdrive sometime to the point of being unhealthy.
- our work is project based, this will end and when it does you’ll likely end up with a different group.
I'm sensing serious victim mentality
More so frustration. What if you independently developed a genius solution and someone was like “our solution.”
If you hate a project, it will end. If you love it - it will end too.
Been there, done that and here’s a long view: I sucked it up on one of the worst projects of my life - 9 months of getting yelled at, crying at work, hating on getting on that flight to MN or ND every week through the dead of winter. An MD I met there later recommended me for a 15-month project that was the best, most memorable of my entire career and got me promoted. Moral of the story: You never know how things will turn out - if you can’t roll off, count down the days. You never know, something good might even come of it. I’m still glad of some projects/jobs I had only because I met someone who became a lifelong friend or otherwise helped or encouraged me. Good luck, OP!
This was me this past week I literally took on the majority of the work and the team got all the credit so I’m pretty pissed off about it. I will be addressing the team on Monday and I’m nervous about it but I have totally done with this before and I’m dealing with it again right now
Don’t mind being an anchor on the team but got included in an email chain where someone else was literally getting the congratulations for something I spent months on. I was briefly included at the end.
