Hi fishes! My spouse is planning to go to India but we would need to get her visa stamped before coming back. I see that getting appointment is such a huge problem right now. Can we get her visa stamped from a different country? In this case, we were considering Qatar, she grew up there and has her brother there. For what it’s worth she qualifies for Dropbox in India. How do I find out if Qatar works in our case?Deloitte

Amex can have great value if transferred to airlines (easily over 2 cents per point possible), but are limited elsewhere. Home Depot gift card at 1cpp might be one of the better redemptions elsewhere, but it's not maximing Amex point value
I only ever use them for airline or hotel points arbitrage - i.e. cases where it is a better deal to transfer points to an airline and book with their rewards points. E.g. I booked my honeymoon on Amex points transferred to Air Canada because I could get 2 business class round trip tickets to Africa for 300k points (valued at $3,000 @ 1%), whereas to buy the cheapest tickets for cash would have been nearly twice as much i.e. $5,000. Other uses such as amazon gift cards are sub-optimized.

I agree D2, but when you have 1M miles already, no need for more ^^
Just booked Caesar’s palace for new year
Gift card: zappos & home depot mostly. But choice is scared for 1% « cash » redemption
Starwood points
D1 Ah but look for the sweet spots, like transferring to foreign carriers (e.g. krisFlyer to fly Singapore Suites, Korean to fly Delta metal to Hawaii for 25k RT, etc.). But agreed, as your balances grow, the gained utility from saving some miles moves towards zero
