Hello there, it's been 3 weeks:
1. Everything through Google classroom
2. Communicate with parents on email|class dojo
3. IEP on phone or WebEx
4. Log interactions and turn in weekly.
- at least 2 attempts at interactions with students
Communicate with gen Ed teachers. Know what they are assigning. It may be too much! Students|parents need to know accommodations.
Do not expect it to be like in class. Not all students will participate. Even though SPED do not think their school work is most important.
Be kind to the parents; show them grace. They are trying. They will not all immediately tell you their needs. Keep checking. Maintain relationships.
Check in on kids. Not just about their work but in general. They miss you.
Be kind to yourself, even though you think you are not doing much you are!
I have been using Google products to support kiddos - our district uses Google Classroom at my level (middle school). Kids log onto a google doc activity and share it with me. I can assist them right in the document. IEP's are sent in draft form the day before the meeting so the admin, reg ed, and parent can look at it ahead of time. Meetings conducted via phone (I have an iphone which allows me to call in all parties - I dont mind giving out my number to parents - has never been a problem). I document on a google doc, which kiddos I have worked with for the day and what assistance I provided just to keep a record of my work with them.
