Do you just dislike the nature of your job? If this is the case, you’re probably in the wrong place and need to start thinking about what you actually WANT to do. If you like the overall nature of what your job is aiming to achieve, but lack motivation to do the tasks, you might need to think about how you motivate yourself. Every job at the end of the day is going to have some tedious work that is gonna suck that you have to push through, but it will be difficult to do so if you feel like your work has no impact and you don’t like the nature of what you do. If it’s culture, I would also still leave. If you feel like your effort is ignored and you aren’t being rewarded , either through potential promotions or pay, then work will still suck. I could be working the coolest job, but I will hate it if I’m underpaid.
I think my biggest issues with my job right now is the lack of colocation and my manager being super sporadic.
I miss the organic relationships you build from in person work. I feel like virtual work is super transactional.
My manager also is all over the place. I'd send him a deck a day or two in advance of a client call and he'll give me comments like at 11pm the night before a morning client call, which is super frustrating.
Get a career coach to help you articulate your desires, passions, and the things you enjoy into actionable insight to help you find a job, career path, or industry that closely aligns to those things.
In addition what the common answer is - it is also completely fine to not feel fulfilled through your work. there’s a lot of LinkedIn influencers talking about if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life, but it’s also possible you just have other ambitions and a career just serves as a means to an end. Otherwise, drugs are also fun lol
If I'm struggling with a project or work, I like to create a narrative in my head of why the stakeholder or team needs the work I'm doing. Even if it's just that the stakeholder wants to impress their boss, it helps motivate me knowing that someone is relying on me.
Yeah the only thing that keeps me going is that I'm the only associate on my team. I'm literally carrying the brunt of all the projects my director sells. But it's getting frustrating because it's my second month and I feel like I've gotten zero coaching/training.
I hate my job but I have over five years of experience. I don’t even know what to do lmao 😭 pray? who is gonna let me transition with five years of irrelevant work?
