So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I was managing a project to play off 1500 workers, and I was asked to finish the project as one of those being laid off. Got a great 6 month package. I did my job professionally in a way to not burn bridges and to honor my own work ethic. I just had to accept reality and start looking early - was still unemployed until the very end of my severance.
I remember the very first time I personally had to let someone go. Even though she was a contractor, I still fought and was able to get her a few weeks pay. She was so kind, and told me she knew I was only the messenger, thanked me for being a great boss, and was on her way. I greatly appreciate that my first experience was such a positive one, and it was a lesson learned to me that as long as I do the best I can to help them get what's fair, then I still deserve to sleep peacefully at night.
If you can, I suggest taking at least a week (if not more) - as you time. Catch up on laundry or cleaning, tackle that last minute holiday task you've put off, do a few things for yourself (hobby or interest based) and lastly RELAX.
Taking a beat to processes it all, catch up on all the deferred stuff and rest is always helpful. I've found it set's me up for next steps - because the searching, posting, networking, interviewing, etc. will be a hustle of it's own.
Unemployment is tough - but positivity and coffee will get you through it! Cheers, you got this! ☕️
