How do you explain that your brain works like a pinball machine, ideas bouncing everywhere? I want my team to understand, not think I'm just disorganized.

I don’t, it’s not an acceptable brain type with what I do so I just keep it to myself.

One way I adjust is I admit to my colleagues that if it's not in writing it didn't happen. I rely heavily on my calendar and email to document and keep all the thoughts organized. This includes asking the person who I have improptu conversations with to send me an email or an invite so I don't forget what we committed to.

Guessing that they need to give you the hard problems that would interest you, tell you they think it is impossible, and then stand back and watch (silently).

It depends on your role/ duties and how you present yourself.

You can be a “mad scientist” only if you can be counted on. It might just be, you need to cultivate more trust with your team.

Explain it just like that. Sounds fun!

I don’t try to explain

I've been tasked with developing an M&A Integration playbook from scratch (I'm in industry and don't have the library of materials/templates you consultants have). Anyone know where to find a decent example, or resources online to help me build one? We will be bringing in consultants eventually to help review/validate what we put together. TIA!

What's the best way to gain visibility by those holding 3-4 positions higher than you? I like learning from them and growing mentorships but can't break the AE-level wall with my responsibilities. Being remote also makes it harder to interact.

Additional Posts in ADHD Consultants

Had my 1:1 with my People Lead yesterday to prepare for talent discussions. Said I had a great year - but need to work on being consistent. She said when I’m engaged it’s great but need to keep it going. I’ve mentioned my ADHD previously but I’m sure she doesn’t know all the components of what that means. We’ve had org issues - no clear role descriptions or expectations. Yes I do have a hard time staying engaged (and I’m medicated - Vyvance in the am, dextroamphetamine at noon). Thoughts?

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)
