Color coding EVERYTHING!! Color is easy to see—even from a distance. —-and using the ROY G BiV color spectrum can give you an order that easily followed. (I assign 1st grade the color red, 2nd is orange, 3rd is yellow, etc...)
I teach elementary art. I have 8 tables in my room, each table has a different color and I have color coordinated folders for each table. I teach K thru 6 in that room. In addiction, i have spray painted binder clips to coordinate a color for each grade.
(Example: a green folder with a red binder clip holding projects belongs to 1st grade students sitting at the green table. )
That may seem confusing to anyone else but it works perfectly for me.
I take the colors one step further and draw shapes at each table spot. This let's me give multiple jobs at once for each table such as: cleaning the table, putting away art, and picking up the floor. They can also be used on sticks or behavior charts/management so you don't need a different set for each group. (I haven't been using them this year as everyone has to bring or be passed all of their own individual materials)
