This doesn't relate to my current job, but previously in two other roles, the communications team was always one of the lower paid teams in the organization compared to the research teams. We felt we worked just as hard (often harder because our deadlines were always shortened when the research ran long) but we were seen more as a corporate service rather than a key area.
I had the exact experience at my last job, it’s so difficult when you’re overworked but not appreciated at all
There are definitely teams that are more favored than mine. We all get along really well though so atleast we are in it together.
Ah I’m glad you at least have that, it’s worse when there’s feelings of resentment towards other teams
I don't think any companies I worked for had favourite departments, but did have favourite people who could do anything they like and get away with it. As a current freelancer, I know fully well that isn't me
Oh I can’t even imagine favouritism with individuals, it’s bad enough when it’s teams
I have felt that imbalance. Some departments get spotlighted while others carry weight quietly in the background. The best teams I have seen make their value visible with results, not just recognition
Agreed, I think any team that works smoothly and gets on with their job successfully will silently command recognition even if the whole company doesn’t see it
