How do you handle the toxic, negative coworkers? Two cliquey coworkers are always talking negativly about everyone else, no one is safe from their “gossip”. One of them is our team lead for our shift. They never talk with the subject of their gossip, but behind backs. I have tried to put myself in their shoes, remind myself that it’s a reflection of them, minimizing interactions, and ignoring the conversations they have. It is exhausting.

I think you are doing the right thing but it’s hard to be around for sure, especially when it is someone in a leadership position. I’d say just keep your head down and ignore them.

I'm in the same boat. And yes it is exhausting. Just focus on you and your work and don't get involved in gossip. Some folks just have to talk about others at work. I have a coworker who spends more of their time and effort at trying to throw others under the bus instead of actually working. To me the less said to them the better.

I feel left out in my firm. How do I make 'friends' with my colleagues? I've been here for a year. I am naturally not a very out going person, was never 'cool' and I struggle to speak in group situations / make engaging conversation with higher ups. It is an important trait to have in this job and I just don't know how to do this. It makes me very upset - I even sought therapy but wasn't useful. I can't spend 14 hours each day feeling like this:(

Just how bad would it be to quit without a two week notice? I’ve been bait & switched into a horrible role, overworked to the point of having medical problems, and no amount of diplomatic talks with my manager has improved the day to day. My mental health and my personal relationships have been on a steady decline.

I don’t have another job lined up yet. But I’m danger close to quitting and taking my chances with freelance. Could it be worth it?
