You have a lot of help and you don’t spend a ton of time with your kids.
You work early in the morning and later at night
this worked so well for me when I had one but it’s so hard now. My 4 year old fights going to bed until 9-9:30 and my 1 year old is up by 5:30. 😭
You are a “super sleeper” who only needs 4 hours a night to function properly.
Remote
Fully remote, my husband is a SAHD, and we have family help regularly. And it still feels impossible most of the time. (My kids are 3 and 2.)

Remote helps a lot.
Yep. Also remote just allows you to straight bill all day with few interruptions. I don’t have kids yet but I am mostly remote and when I’m busy I can bill 8 hours and only work 9. I rarely stop my timer for a quick pee or to grab water because it takes a minute and I’m thinking about work the whole time. I also don’t have to get ready beyond shower/skincare/clothes and don’t have to commute. When I was in the office, I’d work like 10.5-11 hours to bill 8 because of all the interruptions, plus going to the bathroom/lunch/coffee took so much longer. Add in getting ready and commuting and it’s a 12-13 hour day (assuming shortish commute) to bill 8. It was miserable without kids - I can’t imagine doing it with kids.
Remote at 80% and I’m still running on fumes. I’m a solo parent, though, so maybe it’s a little easier if you have someone who can split up the kid/home stuff.
Remote remote remote. I’m a counsel at a V20, by the way.
Remote is the only way to do it. Im at 90% with a billable requirement of 1800
Will try thst
2 kids. Hit my hours every year. I work late almost every night.
What happens if you just don’t show up to the office sometimes?
Chief
You don’t. You work part time at maybe like 1,600.
Ugh idk how people do it. I hit 1900 last year (my requirement) but barely scraped by. I was on maternity leave for the first 3 months of the year so I got hours from that but then to come back and realize I can’t bill like I used to was super hard.
