How do you know of your current daycare is the best option for your kid/s? In this DFW market, we’re paying in the higher range, they have live cameras, they have a curriculum, etc. This is our first kid (10 months) and after visiting 3 other schools I don’t know what else we could want. I hear everyone wants the in-home care, but there are no cameras there. I hear everyone wants the Montessori or Goddard, but honestly haven’t seen proof of anything special when we toured. Any insight?

Home daycare: cheaper and lower frills, but a usually a loving provider who you get to know almost as family. No cameras, no problem: my kid came home safe, fed, and happy everyday. That’s all I needed to know. We opted for this.
Montessori/Goddard: waste of money, especially for under 2. Some people like the branding. Took one look at the price and “curriculum” and walked away

3 major ways to find a home daycare:
1) wonderschool.com
2) Local mommy / parent groups on Facebook
3) Word of mouth

We found the daycare we used for my oldest via a friend and my youngest on wonderschool

Also live in the DFW area and have been happy with Bright Horizons for all 3 of my kids. Each one has unfortunately had to start earlier and earlier ( 2 1/2, 1, 7 months). Our experience may be an outlier in that the center we take our kids to is exclusively for healthcare workers and is essentially on the campus of two adjacent hospitals.

They are open to anyone. This specific location is for healthcare workers only. I think the hospitals have an equity stake. For example the facility only closed once or twice during the entire pandemic and that was just because of county regulations.

I love my kid so much. He was with me throughout all of elementary but has been at the middle school for the past 3 years. He had only a handful of kids he knew from our elementary. He made all of his new friends on his own. I have been meeting them one by one and am sooooo impressed with their character, manners, interests, and grades. He chose his friends wisely! Anyone else experience this?

Not a student… yet, but hope you can help. I’m in healthcare administration (executive assistant) and want a career change, moving into nursing. It looks like LVN is the fastest path (12-month program at my local community college), then continue education for a BSN while working as an LVN. I’m a single parent of a young child so I’m trying to minimize the time I won’t be able to work full time due to school and also ensure I’ll have a livable wage upon completion. Thank you in advance!

Our district is so lax on the students this year. With tech issues and distance learning days, we’ve gone from accommodating to enabling real quick. No penalties for late work, taking excuses for attendance, lower academic and behavioral standards... We were beginning to make so much progress on transforming our school culture, but this year is erasing that and then some. Is anyone else concerned about how to raise the expectations and students’ self-discipline back to pre-enabling levels?

How's everyone doing with back to school and mental health? I'm too stubborn to break, but UUUGHHHH! Work is absolute hell with no relief in sight (but I'm glad to have a job!) & my child is starting a new school (in-person). So many emails and orientations, it's like being a lost kindergarten parent all over again! Plus a "mother's council" Zoom mtg @ 930 on a Thu AM?! Already super stressed & overwhelmed. Also lying about about not breaking, just haven't hit the wall of tears quite yet. Sigh.

How do you move on past a breakup when the relationship was all around perfect match except for my ex partner has a lot of self healing to do. Nothing that deterred me, but relates to their childhood upbringing, relationships with a parent
They said i’m the perfect person for them, but until they sort this out they don’t know what they want, like if they even want a family or spouse. Before we both said we were very excited for family in a few years. he was my best friend. i’m trying not to wait

Anyone here adopt a puppy during the infertility struggle? Husband and I considering it to have something positive throughout this situation and thinking the extra companionship would be helpful. I work from home. Husband has had many family dogs and lots of experience with it, I’ve had a family cat before. But not sure if it’s actually a good idea - wondering if it would truly help make us feel better and keep our minds off of the struggles or if it would just add extra stress. Thoughts?
