Through modeling. Utilizing software such as supply chain guru
You can build a digital twin to create a digital copy of you network and run all kinds of different scenarios
Use a modeling or transportation tool like Blue Yonder’s transportation management system
We use a transportation tool called BluJay.
From a simpler perspective than using modeling software (of which I build, and agree the value is there) assuming it’s not readily available- the easiest way I have found is if you have visibility to preplanning loads, pivot in excel for each customer and identify based on predetermined volume levels (cubic feet or lbs). Use historical by day if preplanning not available and build assumption off that. To optimize routes- use excel solver (add in) to minimize total miles. Easier said than done.
