I think that not having the word "manager" in your title makes it all the more impressive when you can show how you've stepped up and taken initiative on major projects. And if anything, your review is definitely your time to shine, so I wouldn't think about it as bragging at all. I think that's the best time to bring up the major accomplishments you've had throughout the year, especially since management doesn't always see it firsthand if you work in a busy environment.
This is such a helpful reminder, thank you!! I think you're right, I’ve had this habit of downplaying things, esp as a woman, because they weren’t “assigned,” but in reality, stepping up is the point. Appreciate this a lot!
Totally, don’t be afraid to “brag,” especially when you've made real impact. You can frame it as you stepping up into the tasks needed to deliver. It’s not bragging, it’s giving credit where it’s due. You did the work, they should know about it.
Definitely working on rewriting that inner voice a bit, thank you for this.
It’s not bragging if it’s the truth. As someone who leads a small team of 8. I have 3 who are take-charge types who have my trust and backing which makes it easier for them to lead when necessary. As a manager, I am happy to have people that don’t need me to oversee everything they do. If you’re that person, remind your manager.
Great advice! It's very validating hearing from someone who leads others, thank you.
