Hmmm. Have you perhaps made the mistake of not already having family in the industry? Really, though, I get what you're saying. All you can do is keep improving and kick butt at auditions.
Pretty sure bad acting is a prerequisite for soaps. Similar for Hallmark and Lifetime movies. Aim higher.
It's all about connections. But, in any case, please don't go to work on a soap.
But do you really want to work on soap operas? I know we need our first jobs but remember your biggest goal. I know a lot of soap opera actors that haven't found any jobs anywhere else.
Being an actor is tough. Keep persevering, working on yourself (mind, physique, abilities), networking, and keep moving! You never know who you can meet next. I am sure that when you least expect it, your big break will come.
I mean...I don't think that's the competition lol, I agree with the person above, try harder
Soap operas cast on looks and people who have connections. And bad acting is kind of the draw for people these days
Yea I feel this. I have so many friends trying to get into acting right now and they are amazing. Then I see some of these shows and I'm wondering how these people whave jobs.
It's always hard to get a big break and probably one of the more popular ways to get in the industry is to do a soap. But just cite them as competition and strive to become better than them. If you elevate your game they might follow suit. Good luck!
I'll be honest with you, you probably don't want to get stuck doing soap operas.
I know!! I mean, there are some extremely talented actors but there are also pretty bad ones. It's all about connections and networking I guess.
You could start as a zombie extra for any of the zombie shows out there. Better to put yourself out there and not be picky about the role at first.
