Everyone has a different learning style, but it is very helpful to get feedback from peers.
Absolutely. Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman on “Breaking Bad”) never took an acting class or college for acting.
I didn't know that!! That is kind of wild to think about. He is a great actor.
Sure! Improv groups are great for this. If you've got it, you've got it. Shouldn't need formal education to confirm this.
Sure. The important part is to let others see your work and not be afraid to learn from them or accept criticism. I personally think going to formal classes can help with this if you don't have any prior experience.
This is actually more common than you'd expect even among some of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Actors like Johnny Depp and Jim Carrey landed their first jobs without formal acting training.
Absolutely! Especially if you're willing to use other learning resources (youtube is excellent for free content!). There are drawbacks, however. The industry depends heavily on having the right connections which you'll need to find other ways to make if you're not attending classes. Feedback is also important which you'll want to be getting from somewhere.
If you put your mind to it, you absolutely can! There's a lot more resources online than just regular old classses. Try looking some up on Youtube, or if you want more in depth workshop type lessons there might be some on Skillshare.
Yes. There are people who were incredibly talented. Thee acting skills just come out natural and even more effective.
Yes, the most crucial thing isn't memorizing lines so much as psychoanalyzing each character. You develop a connection with each character you play. It is really obvious when people don't like the roles they are given. But if you take on the character's persona, and you learn to think like them, then acting like them isn't too difficult.
what do you mean by formal class? like purely virtual only or not enrolling in a class? you can learn just about anything these days if you are dedicated enough. but then again there is no substitute for being taught by a mentor
Probably if you've honed yourself in the craft from a young age and are naturally good at it. Then I would think it is possible, many of the actors of old never had formal training. But then again if you love your craft sooner or later you will want to have formal training or coaching.
