Sony is pretty solid from what I've heard
Following this thread. I'm thinking of switching industries.
Of the big three label groups, I've heard Universal has the best benefits & compensation, though I think SONY and Warner are close behind.
Re: growth opportunities / work environment, that depends entirely on what department or what label you end up in. Swapping stories with people from other departments at my last label was mind-blowing, we could have just as well been working for other companies given how different our experiences were.
Good to know! If you’re willing to share/have any info, were there any that might be a better environment for a position in a comms department? I’ve heard Atlantic and Columbia folks are typically happy.
You need to at least know the industry and the genre you are going to be working in. Determine that first. For example it would be nice to work for Fueled by Ramen when you're into punk/rock.
I’d look at Glassdoor reviews to see which companies have best benefits, high turnover etc. But at the end of the day - its whats most important to you whether its working on big names, work life balance, etc
Can you elaborate a bit more on what you mean by "best"? Are we talking best salary? Best for future career opportunities? Best work environment? That should help us give you a better answer for your particular interests
Best salaries, room for growth and work environment
What labels have the trendiest artists? It really all comes down to what you're going after. If you want to advance your career quick, find something big such as Interscope or Island Records, but you can always also look into smaller indie labels, which I feel have a more family-like approach to music.
I’m at a small label now and it’s hell. I’d like to move out of entertainment and PR in general, but I’m having a difficult time getting any interest so I’m hoping to jump to at least a better label/agency as a first step
