How does a government job at the DOD or an agency look on mba applications compared to consulting or other private sector jobs. I am currently a consultant at big 4 but have an offer to switch. Honestly I am going to do it regardless but just curiose how the impact would look (Probably wouldn’t apply until two years of experience at the gov role).

Say I put $1k into a stock, it doubles, so now I have $2k, can I withdraw my initial investment of $1k without paying taxes or does this still create a taxable event? I’m concerned since I technically sold my initial shares for a profit but I didn’t sell for a gain above my initial investment.

2020 grad M&A/PE Associate in LCOL area thinking about moving to a ECVC/M&A boutique. I generally like the work I do and the people I work with, but I really don’t like the hours and the constant late nights and weekends. Currently on pace for 2250. I regret not applying to Harvard. I never thought I’d get into a top school and then got into wharton with a 100k fellowship - which changed my entire perspective. It sucks thinking “what if…”.
