I regret not applying to Harvard. I never thought I’d get into a top school and then got into wharton with a 100k fellowship - which changed my entire perspective. It sucks thinking “what if…”. I just didn’t have the confidence and thought wharton was a reach so why bother with H/S 🙃 hope this inspires someone to just shoot their shot - you never know

If it makes you feel any better, there are some people at W who turned down H for your amount of scholarship

like

Very very true!

I didn’t apply to Stanford and almost didn’t apply to Harvard for the same reason. I though Wharton was my stretch school.

I didn’t even get an interview at Wharton, but was accepted at HBS today.

Wow I can’t imagine your feeling right now! Congrats on HBS :)

And yes I know - very privileged problem to have. But we’re all in this MBA bowl aka we all have the privilege to think about dropping 6 figures for our education so wanted to vent about my privileged problem

I thought the same thing with CBS and didn’t bother applying to H/S/W 😂 but super happy to be attending CBS in the fall ❤️ no regrets

Congrats on CBS! MBA in nyc is going to be so fun and their new campus is unbelievable 🥹

I got into H but am taking money at W. Idk why you’d take H at sticker over that

like

Why no one’s talking bout Stanford?

Omg are you me? I’m grateful for the $$$ from Wharton but didn’t apply to Harvard and now I’m just wondering “what if”😔Wholeheartedly agree with your advice here: just throw in an application, you never know

like

You’re not alone! I think about the money and am so grateful I didn’t have to choose between money @ W and something else. Because then I’d prob still be thinking “what if” 😭😭😭 But very excited for school to start and all the trek, personal development, meeting interesting people :)

like

If it makes you feel better, I got into W with $$ but dinged from HS with no interview. It definitely can be pretty random!

like

You’re right! Can’t beat myself up over something I can’t control

Congrats OP! I also got a massive Wharton fellowship and it feels soooooo good :) see you there!

like

Thanks for the positive vibes Deloitte :)

Damn how are all of y’all getting so much money, I got waitlisted at W and wondering how that happened 🙃🙃

like

Not expect but I thought I had a good shot, and really I’m kinda just wondering how everyone got such a massive scholarship lol. I was hoping to just get in

Can you tell us more about your application process (e.g., interviews, GMAT/GRE scores, etc.)? Also, would you like to share any fellowships you applied for along the process? I really appreciate any help you can provide.

like

I’d say “my conversations with professors like X and Y have introduced me to Wharton’s X program where I can contribute to X and hone in on X, while my conversations with students like X and Y have shown me that X” (something culture / school related). Not sure if that helps?

like

How did you get such a large fellowship? Congrats!!

No application! Just comes with the offer letter

like

Stats? What do you think may have allowed you to standout in order to receive the $$?

When it comes to your job search:

1) How often/much do you get feedback from recruiters or whoever you just spoke with? Feels like we're always in the dark. One way feedback street.

2) Who do you like to work with? Headhunters vs internalrecruiters? Is the experience different?

3) Have you had to align your interviews so that the offers would come in close/same day? What's your strategy?

4) What's your process in weighing [multiple] offers? If that ever happens? Where do you keep your notes?

Currently going through some negations on an internal role. I’m currently at 88k and they offered me 100k for a position that requires a lot more work. They stated 120k+ is extremely high for that role. What do you guys think? Playing the game?
