Doesn’t bother me. The issue will be when other faiths want to post their doctrine in schools and then are denied. Those who make these decisions are often found to be not the best humans out there and very seldom practice what they preach.
Exactly. Trampling the rights of all other faiths. I’m Christian enough to understand that it doesn’t mean pushing my beliefs off onto others as if we’re the only people that matter. It’s a load, and we’re headed for more of the same here in TX.
I am not ok with this. I send my children to learn facts and critical thinking, not to be exposed to religious indoctrination and magical thinking.
Lol magic
Not a fan of it at all. As a Catholic, Christ died and thus ended the Old Testament, including the 10 commandments. So this isn’t an actual representation of my Catholic faith. Also public prayer is against what Jesus Christ said. We are supposed to pray privately, not in public.
Plus this law is also unconstitutional.
@SEAM1 you just found one of my issues with what Catholicism teaches. Some things are indeed at odds with what Jesus taught. Most ignore it.
It's impossible to live in such a diverse country as ours and honor one religious tradition. If we want to be a religiously tolerant society we have to have a strict division between church and state
I’m a fan. People are pushing liberal beliefs to these kids in school so why is it soooo offensive now and unacceptable when it comes to religion. If one belief is being offered than the others shouldn’t be pushed aside, whoever is not with it can just sit down and not participate or listen but be respectful.
Honestly religious right wing nuts have somehow turned teachers into the boogeyman and it would be hilarious if it weren't so dangerous. The last thing we need is an even more uneducated electorate. That's part of how we even got into this mess.
I'm agnostic.
I hope everyone feels great about their own spiritual life. Please don't point your religion at me though.
Any of them.
I'm atheist, and big same.
Not ok. Doesn’t belong in school. Raised catholic and remember being harassed by the baptist kids about how I’m going to hell since I’m not “saved to their standards”. Kids will be kids but the point is this needs to be separate. School for for education, not spiritual agenda. Base only in science.
Also not a fan of the pledge of allegiance nor state anthem. Having been deployed to Afghanistan twice, I have a serious problem with indoctrinating children and having them pledge allegiance to anything.
👏
It doesn't bother me personally but I feel like it will be uncomfortable for students who are not Christian. I think they will be a bunch of feedback from parents.
Political theatre.
Term limits, campaign reform, election reform.
Does the Texas Leg want the Quran and/or Baphomet sculptures shown in schools?
Because that is what they will receive after the lawsuits are resolved. This has been done multiple times, and each time it is either overturned or they are forced to share the area with those non-Christians.
We deserve politicians who do more than fling culture war nonsense against a wall and hope something sticks.
I like what people are posting in the comments. Only if we had sensible religious people from all the beliefs! Too Good people..
I love this and would like to see the Pledge of Allegiance and Texas Pledge return as well.
Whatever - my kids have had to recite both, starting in kindergarten. I think the Texas pledge is asinine. Am I supposed to take up arms against Louisiana? What does “allegiance” to a state even mean?
I think it's a bit strange to bring prayer back into the classroom. I don't think it should be a requirement, but it should be the student's choice. I'm not a fan of the 10 Commandments being posted either, as it can make those of other faiths feel excluded.
