How does someone break into a new area of law they have no experience in it? I'm almost three years into one area of law that I didn't mean to specialize in. I'd like to transition to the Corporate/In house counsel scene but all these jobs want so much experience and I don't have any in that area. Even trying to get hired in another firm seems impossible because of my lack of experience in the transactional area.

Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. I’ve been practicing in both big law (many yrs ago) and now in-house for over 10 years. Quite often I struggle because I don’t find work fulfilling. I’ve been in industries that allegedly have greater cause (healthcare) but was eventually disappointed by the corporate bureaucracy and went to a cutting-edge tech company for intellectual stimulation.
