I’ve been practicing in both big law (many yrs ago) and now in-house for over 10 years. Quite often I struggle because I don’t find work fulfilling. I’ve been in industries that allegedly have greater cause (healthcare) but was eventually disappointed by the corporate bureaucracy and went to a cutting-edge tech company for intellectual stimulation. Still I struggle. Should I try public interest? Not that I don’t need the money but it’s hard to work when I am so detached and find it meaningless

It’s law, and you’re pushing paper regardless of which paper it is. I spent five years in big law (lit) and a few working with startups (half business half regulatory). The law pretty exclusively always sucks, the projects can at least be occasionally stimulating, but that’s it. You’re a professional selling your hours to the highest bidder and being good at it only gets you more.

Try selling something you love, or really anything, it can be hugely rewarding, until it gets easy/boring.

Are non-legal nonprofit management roles an option? You could def transfer skills and have leadership in something you find meaningful and not necessarily practice. (Or you could go civil legal services—quality laterals are hard to come by and there is lot of policy work to be done in addition to individual representation.)
