I always avoid traveling during the holidays, we used to do it every year when I was a kid and it drove me nuts. So I'm fine with just taking whatever days off we have and I use my optional days at other times. I like the holidays a lot, but I just prefer them in my own house.
now
Oh no. How is it already time to start thinking about the holidays. Christmas was only 3 months ago 😭
Honestly I put requests in almost a year ahead, but that might just be me overthinking/over planning. The sooner the better, requests are typically granted based on who submit earliest and has coverage pre-sorted out

I usually start planning a few months early—better to get those requests in before the rush! Fingers crossed you win the time-off battle and avoid the holiday scramble!
I put my time in over a year ago. I dis not want some one telling me at the last moment that it wouldn't happen.
Plan a year in advance (“fuzzy plan”). Tune the plan monthly as details come into focus. By 90 days out, there’s no surprises just adaptations. Ideally, of course 😉

I put my time off almost a year in advance. It's habit because in my last role it was first come and if you don't ask soon enough you didn't get off. Now I work in a role that downdrafts for the holidays so only 1/3 of us are needed for each and we are only expected to work one holiday a year.

Ask everyone for their schedule as soon as possible.
I plan them 6 months ahead. So I don’t get denied knowing most people will ask for it off. I’ve even started my Christmas shopping!
