If you’re worried about PIP before you get to a company. You should probably get out of the field.
Thanks for your feedback but it does not helped me
Strategy is a separate practice from Consulting. The culture will depend on your individual practice, industry, and the key leaders to some extent. It can be very good in some groups. PIPs are active but only for the bottom 5-10% of performers. As a new joiner, you will have some relief for the first year. Hikes are highly dependent on your performance and whether or not you are getting promoted. Higher rewards go to higher performers like at any other firm.
Hike? Appraisal? Pip?
You need to understand strategy and consulting are different things with actual different cultures and pay scales
So under Pierre strategy was stand alone and did true strategy work through a tech enablement lens. A different approach than what the MBB do to emphasize where accebture could differentiate. Consulting was more about implement and adoption.
Julie pushed them together for Wall Street and because of a lot of butt hurt in the consulting ranks because strategy had been more exclusive and paid to strategy market instead of consulting market. So more strategic work and better pay and a lot of the consulting people have the same skill set albeit it without the bit you can’t teach which is how strategists look at the world and see those big pictures.
Consulting was industry aligned and duplicated functions then under Julie the P/L all moves to regions and now back to industries. Strategy is a separate P/L up through strategy leadership to Julie not industry nor functional leadership. That hasn’t changed in her now 3rd reorg.
Not saying consulting stayed in their swim lane they didn’t, and since they sell at lower margins and more importantly far lower ADR, they undermined leveraging strategy as a market differentiator and because so many sought to move for the higher pay they also watered down the capability.
None the less to distinct sub cultures, different leadership roll ups even though it’s all in the matrix, and they sell and deliver different things. Pay and pricing are of course different too.
