I am wondering if anyone with this current setup has any feedback about it. What’s the deal with RFPs? I’ve spent countless [non-billable] hours on several of them only to find out that I’m not included in the actual proposal (the document sent to the client showcasing the proposed case team). Is this normal?

I realized recently that I can turn my “super associate” persona at any time. I had it off during covid when my kids needed me and got a bad review. So now it’s back on. The requirements are insane to officially “resign” - draft a motion, pay a fee, send proof of service - I honestly do not know what this nonsense means, I’m not a litigator for a reason. What was the hardest class year for you? I used to think first year was by far the hardest but now I’m a third year and I’m really feeling the pressure to step up. I work in finance and at this point I’m expected to handle closing documents, manage first years, draft some portions of major docs, etc. I feel like I’m always frazzled, constantly second guessing if I handled something correctly and anxious to answer calls from clients/OC. The worst part is I think people can tell I’m a mess....

Recent lateral (6ish months). On pace for 2000. Partners keep asking me if I’m liking the quality/type of work I’m getting and telling me to let them know if I feel overwhelmed by my (very manageable) workload. Am I crazy or do they think I’m going to leave for another firm or something six months in?

I lateraled to my current firm less than a year ago, 2 months into the firm’s billable year. But I’m going to hit the yearly billable target regardless. What should I expect to receive as a bonus? Just regular bonus for hitting the billable target? Extra because I hit it in less than a full year? How does this work? Would appreciate any insight!
