If you’re struggling with finding friends, my advice for you is to join adult sport leagues or any groups/clubs that interest you. A friend of mine is in a volleyball league and they usually get dinner or drinks after their games. They grew to be very great friends and invite each other over for parties, lunch, etc.

Ah i was always thinking of joining them, though I’ve been very on and off with my running habits. Do they have active communities in each borough? Running communities are always so happy and welcoming

Hello friend! I moved here 5 years ago from Australia without even having been to states. I came over with no job, no friends, just 3 months paid accommodation and a couple of suitcases.
I used apps and meetup a lot and then met people through work once i got a job. I was also lucky enough to have a strong Aussie in NYC community on Facebook to meet people. I would recommend tapping into college alumni groups in the city, joining a social sport and honestly, just going to sit at a bar alone and talk to people.
This is a transient city. Not everyone is from here and a lot of people are looking for their people.
Keep your chin up! You’ve got this!

Anyone know any biotechs/Pharma (ideally oncology-focused) that are looking for a VP (or even SD for the right TC) of BD/CorpDev and allowing for remote/travel models (if not Boston-based) or at least a Boston-based hybrid model? I know someone with good biotech/Pharma BD&L experience that is looking for a new role given the current biotech layoff scene. Is anyone concerned the push for sexual equality in pay without accordant leveling of parental leave is gonna backfire?

Here’s a hypothetical:

A company has 2 candidates, aged 25-30, equal in every respect save one’s a man the other’s a woman. Maybe the woman is a slightly better candidate overall. They’d have equal comp.

Company considers the woman a riskier bet due to possibility she’ll take maternity leave — and considers the man less risky for his ineligibility to take as much leave. 🤷

How do I figure out spending with my SO? Initially I was paying for 90% of stuff (no actual bills, just going out). I talked to her and said we need to be more even. She was never proactive. She kind of got offended but we ended on a good note to split things. It went well for a couple weeks but now it's back to normal. She never takes out her card and only venmos me if I send her the request. She lets Venmos sit for weeks before paying them. I still let a lot of things slide.

I know that some other associates at my level are approximately 30% behind other associates in hours on a month to month basis. Yet all of these associates say they are “at capacity”, and myself and another associate still end up being assigned work instead of them. How do we handle this? For reference, all associates are around the firms minimum requirement, it’s just that a few of us are 30+% over and it is leading to burnout.
