How many of you use manipulatives in your high school math classes? We have a grant opportunity to get some manipulatives but I find that we don't use the ones we have now. I realize that I might be able to use something for a struggling student as a support tool but not for teaching the regular class. Any advice on what I should be using, if anything? I am pretty sure there aren't manipulatives in college...

I used the a lot in middle school, but I also find I don't use them as much in high school. I would use them if I wrote it into my lesson plans. But not often. Because we are so short handed I have no planning so taking the time to factor manipulatives in just doesn't work.

I remember my geometry teacher once upon a time gave us string cardboard and two pins to demonstrate how an elipse is created... I could come up with a lot for geometry but I'm not sure about others

I love Algebra Tiles for factoring and completing the square. My students have walked away with a much better comprehension of factoring and completing the square. Some still struggled with transferring to the algebraic methods, but it was a bridge for quite a few of my students.

911 Carrera S vs GTS

I really want to do a low key spec on my next car but it’s almost impossible to spec the GTS without black wheels/accents turning it into a more aggressive looking car.

Thoughts on if the GTS in a 7 speed is more engaging than the S enough to justify the compromise in wheel selection?

I was approached to work in EY Melbourne. I was promised for a visa sponsorship. I have several questions:
- What is the work culture there? Is it fast paced or a bit relaxed?
- What’s the salary range for experienced consultant?
- Do they have a health insurance?

I lateraled from a small firm to regional big law last year. I was told that my offer was commensurate with class year (5th year). The firm recently increased first year salary, with a 5% increase for all other attorneys. My original salary was equal to the new first year salary. The difference between my new salary and a first year is now $10k. I think it is fairly obvious that the hiring partner was not truthful with me. How would you address this? Is another lateral move my only option?

My district has finally gone 1-to-1. Is there a good app or website that I could use to have students submit answers anonymously while going over problems in class? I did this last week using Kahoot to go over a state testing review packet. It was great because I could see how many got the right answer and move on if no one missed the question. However, I would like to do it without having to create something in advance. I hope this doesn't sound confusing.

I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade supplemental math. I want to use pencil / paper this year, because I feel my kids didn't do as well online. I don't mind using it occasionally but want to utilize interactive notebooks. Does anyone else feel this way about math or have suggestions?

Does anyone know a great 7th grade math workbook? Our school system does not buy the students books. I’ve taught 6th grade math for 20 years and have made all my notes, worksheets and and examples, but I’ve been assigned a seventh grade math class and don’t have enough time to get all of that ready. I feel like I’ve spent so much money on Amazon and TPT but it never ends up being what I want. It’s usually too easy. I would be grateful for any ideas, suggestions or actual workbooks names. Thanks.

I finally was able to convince my principal that we need a consistent math intervention at the MS level (grades 5-8). (Right now, we are just "doing our own thing," which isn't helping students progress much.) Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be beneficial to have some sort of progress monitoring tool as part of the program, if possible. Our classes run roughly 55 minutes (which is too long for an intervention, in my humble opinion).

Thanks for any advice.
