3 separate campaigns for a total of 14 spots (8 TV, 6 OLV).
Two of the campaigns were HUGE.
All shot, colored, mixed, and all but 2 were conformed.
All cancelled for reasons of cold feet or shareholder response (because it was a huge pivot from where they’d been but that was the brief) 😫
Def gave me a bit of a depression.
Seriously
It really does it make it hard to get excited about this job. You go through all the hurdles and get nothing in return

1 completed spot and 3 other spots which were shot and then killed during editing.
That’s a total of over $3MM that clients threw in the trash 🤦♂️

Don’t feel bad. My partner and I once had what would’ve been a hilarious spot killed on our way to the airport.
The CEO’s 65 year old wife saw our script on the kitchen counter that morning and didn’t understand the joke, so the CEO killed it.
The target of the spot was Male, 18 - 24. 🤦♂️
Can't count. In the past year alone, I've had 3 die. But I work for a mega company that's responsible for a LOT of creative.
Worst I’ve had was a broadcast spot getting cancelled 2 days prior to the shoot.

A few. One time the client decided after investing 1.5 mi on a campaign that it was not the best moment for it.
Another the company changed CMO right before the launch and the new one decided to scrap it and fired the agency too.
Another one died on testing.
And another relied heavily on a song. And during the development of the campaign the songwriter was on court for plagiarism (which I called it out), lost and the other artists got credit rights for the song. And their label asked 1m more for the usage. Wasn’t even a major artist and we were paying like 300k for it. So client said fuck it with everything almost ready to fly.
On the design side happened once. We had a very cool book for this client, printed… ready to go. But apparently the global CMO had never seen it and once they did they got mad that they haven’t seen it and parked for the time being. Ended up firing the local client and the book never seen the light of day. And I think that was totally out of spite for not being part of it.
I think I’ve had three die in the editing stage? One was a real person testimonial piece and the CEO said he ‘didn’t like her face’ after we edited for two months. 🤦🏽♀️. One was a music video that took so long to finish the artist decided not to release that song as a single. And once was a strange situation where the production company in charge of paying for post went bankrupt so my post facility refused to keep working on it. No one came to the rescue so the whole thing was scrapped.
Used to work on a campaign that would shoot 3-5 spots at once. With the intention of only running the ones our clients liked. I knew at every production that maybe half of the spots we shot and edited would never run.
