How much billable hours you did for this year’s tax season? How was it compared in prior year? Mine has been increasing every year 😱😱 and definitely wanted life back. where else to go with 5 years exp in a small firm

It’s always been 1800 total for me from small to middle market.

Edit: actually small firm was 1200-1300 but I was paid considerably less than when doing 1800.

This is only billable. I’m not sure what non billable would be since it includes PTO/Holiday. I would have to check .

2300 is the norm for total hours. My (small) firm is 1400-1500 for staff and seniors and then 1300 for managers. I actually have no clue how some firms are doing 1800+ billable hours

100-120k but we are in DC

Mine is comparable.

I am almost 2300 with 1900 billable hours to date. 😱

Yikes!!!

Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?
