$200 in my sword cane, $400 in my hip pouch, $100 each in the hidden heel compartment of my shoes, and $20 in $1s to give to the youth along with a stick of Juicy Fruit

No cash or minimal cash in the wallet

$150 in various bills plus 1 cc + 1 ID in my laptop bag
$50 in various bills +1cc in my carry on bag

There’s always some cash in case the wallet is lost or I have only one of my bags.

Yes. I am Gen X 😊

I do remember 9/11 when some ATMs ran out of money. Different times but still….

Love it. Solid planning.

None, I travel with an Apple MagSafe wallet which can hold my ID and two credit cards (Amex and Visa)

SM1 to illustrate the size and space of my wallet situation. OP - I try to avoid cash only situations or see if they accept Venmo or Zelle. Find the Apple wallet to be handy as it has a lost feature that tells you when and where it was last detached from your phone and notified you if you left it behind

Travel with as in day to day or take on trips? Could be generational, I always feel like I should have $200-$400 just in case.

like

Depends. Domestic - $200 for the week, tips etc. If international, a lot more. In the UK and Europe your credit card is fine, but Mexico still likes $$$ so I’d carry probs $500-$800. Some Middle Eastern countries would be more as $$$ get a better deal when bargaining.

like

Always have at least two $100 bills. Never know when a casino pit stop might happen. (Casinos super close to ORD and OMA).

Like $100 in 20s if I remember but usually none

like

$400 in 20s distributed throughout wallet, money belt and luggage. Lots of places only take cash. For example even the express train from Osaka Namba to the airport is cash only. You’d think Japan would be more futuristic than that but no.

No Suica?

About $50-$200 domestically (in 20s). Internationally - depending on where I go, if it’s to my home country then maybe closer to $2k. But other countries I would think maybe at max $500.

Your only alone if you dont take someone with you after they try and rob me this is how we're gonna fit 3 people in a car with one seat....One in the seat 2 in the ashtray. Lol

What does bench life look like for you?
For me a typical day looks like this
9 am- sign in and check emails
930-11 : look for a new job
11-2 lunch and nap
2-3 : sometimes meetings, mostly begging people for billable work
3-4:30 - proposal work if I have it or more job hunting
5-9pm family time and dinner
10-3am - netflix, videogames, cry myself to sleep

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.
