They were with technical solution architects. There's a disconnect between Slalom local market and Slalom cross market. Cross Market has higher technical standards for architects and I interviewed with them.
Sure, you might as well just put the questions out and see what you get.
Met with a few recruiters and they scheduled a coffee meeting scheduled with SP. What can I expect throughout the process? Meeting with how many more folks typically? Are there any case interviews?
Other people can give their experience, but for me it was:
Recruiter phone call,
Recruiter in person (30 minutes),
Technical phone call,
Technical, behavioral, potential manager 30-45 minutes each
For another guy I know he also had a take home, but that was in a hot market
Was your technical interview(s) with a SP?
Thanks, SC1. when you received your offer, did you negotiate? And if so how successful were you?
I did, I asked for something like 14% more and got 10%. It's been a while and I hope I have these numbers right, but that's the gist.
Great. Last question, YoY raise and bonus %? I’ve heard 6-10% for both. True?
I can't speak to that yet, sorry
Thanks for your insight, SC1! Totally forgot to ask - have you had a chance to explore promotion path or is that not really a thing at Slalom.
I can't speak it yet either, but I do see promotions happening 😃
Recruiter I met with said last round is a case study that they give you a few days to a week to prepare for....any more details on that?
My interview didn't include that portion, sorry
@op. Pay increases are 3-5% depending how high your starting pay is. Eventually it is near zero.
Promos take on average 3-5 years for solution architect to solution principle.
Thanks SC2. I am looking to come in around $150k (it’s a ~10% Increase from my current base). Does slalom go that high for consultants? Also, are you assigned a people manager to help you with promos?
Also, is staffing like the big4 where it relies heavily on your network within the firm? Or is it actually managed by a staffing team? (Sorry for the numerous questions)
@op. What level are you, what skillset and what type of market
@op. Also your numbers are wrong. You are asking for a 47% pay increase on a per hour increase.
Assuming 130k working 52 hour weeks x 46 weeks chargeable your total hours worked are 2392. On a per hour basis you make 54 bucks at big4.
Your Slalom target salary is 150k @ 40 hours max x 47 weeks. That is 1880 hours or 80 bucks an hour.
Remember we work a lot less hours
SC2, I’m not at the big4. Left big4 a while ago and am at a startup doing no more than 40 hours a week. Product management/agile development, 8 years total experience, based in California
Some more info - My all in comp right now is 150k-160k (depending on bonus). Base is $135, which is why I am looking for my base to be 150k to make the jump. Prob should’ve mentioned all this beforehand. Totally get your big4 vs Slalom calculations though.
