Planning a 4-5 day trip to Alaska in May. Any suggestions for places to go, hotels, things to do, numbers of day to be spent at various spots etc. Thanks!

Go to Sarah Palin’s house and gaze across the water at Russia.

Anything on the Kenai Peninsula is incredible. Homer and Seward are two spots you shouldn’t miss.
Denali is also something that will knock your socks off. If you go to Talkeetna, AK, you’ll have a great view from the Susitna river. Small town with shops and an incredible breakfast place called Talkeetna roadhouse.

like

1. Denali National Park -- pro tip -- if you take the bus trip that is offered within the park, and want to go anywhere near Wonder Lake -- and actually go to the NEXT stop past Wonder Lake for the iconic view of Denali -- bring a mosquito headnet and wear long sleeves and long pants. You will thank me after you feel the mosquito hordes bombarding your body trying to bite you -- not joking. Also, stay on the marked trails. There are now a fair number of Grizzlies in the park, and it's not hard to encounter them wandering off trail.

2. Homer, AK, where a lot of the crabbing and fishing industry is based -- with some great, truly local bars.

3. Sitka, AK, home to Russian architecture when it was a Russian village

4. Whale watching in Prince William Sound -- take a charter out of Seward, AK. . Humpbacks, Killer Whales, eagles, sea lions, just awesome.

5. Rent a car you will be comfortable driving in quite a bit. Alaska is an enormous state -- everything I have just described is in the southern part of the state, and it is still a lot of driving.

6. For a truly bizarre, "only in Alaska" stop, try the agricultural research station in Palmer, AK, outside Anchorage. When I was there, they had cut holes in the sides of a number of cows and installed viewing ports so they could literally watch stages of digestion.

like

As D2 said, Alaska is huge so plan how you want to spend your time.

Denali is about 290 miles north of Anchorage (a good 5-6 hour drive not including stops for taking pics) and Seward is about 130 miles south

like

^ for those old enough to remember the tv show Northern Exposure, Talkeetna served as the inspiration

like

"...old enough to remember...."

Sigh...

Shoot, I am old enough to remember watching Mork and Mindy as a kid.

like

*as D1 said*

Talkeetna is pretty cool. Some great little restaurants there, and campgrounds where you can get good views of Denali.

Oh -- and don't be surprised if you never see the mountain clearly. It is only clear something like 29 days per year.

Sitting in the airport in Nashville. Whole lotta drinking going on. This town, like so many others can get raucous. I’m 25 and have found a duplex I’m considering purchasing as a rental property. Planning on renting both units and have the cash to make the down payment without an issue. My cash flow analysis has a payback period of 3 years for my down payment and a 13 year payback period for the whole investment. I think financially it makes sense. My question is, is it realistic for a 25 year old young professional to handle dealing with all the extra curricular’s that come with owning a rental property ?

Confession: The only in-law that I had a great relationship with passed away unexpectedly. The two remaining in-laws were on thin ice with me prior due to years of drama, nagging, and disgusting display of wealth. I believe their demand of money and general assholish behavior drove in law to his death. I love my S.O. but I can’t deal with the drama anymore.

I want to have a family and a future that is drama-free and full of love and don’t want to surround myself with negativity.

Things have been super stressful at work lately for a variety of reasons & a couple of weeks ago I decided to raise the issues with my Creative Director.
For context, he’s the reason for a lot of these problems and I (tactfully, I think) said as much. He listened to me patiently but took no responsibility and deflected blame with every issue raised.
Today he asked me to send an email to him about how overworked I am so that he can use it to talk to management. (cont. in comments)

Ignore my title, I'm an analyst.

I've been working here for over a year and my associate basically never does a thing. I get I'm the analyst but I'm the only one on my team. I pull together every page.

My associate does minimal reviewing, if even, usually it goes straight to my vp. And even my vp has pulled pages together.

Is it valid to ask my vp to chat about this? I'm not even expecting a 50/50 but pulling even 1% of the pages would make me not want to shoot myself
