I've been offered for Engineering expert position at Novartis India. I've received offer letter 2 weeks back and my DOJ is updated to Mid December. I told the HR that my current company's last working day is on mid January and resend the offer letter with mid Jan as my DOJ. But they told that they can send the revised offer letter 3 weeks before the joining date.
Is this normal process? Has anyone gone through similar experience?

I have a friend who told me he sought treatment for alcohol abuse 6 mo ago. We talk a lot and I try not to judge or ask too many questions about his progress, just wanting to be a supportive friend who doesn’t pressure him. I’m a PE ops VP at a larger fund. Currently making $350k cash comp with about $1M carry at work per fund. Realistically, what would I be looking at in terms of cash/carry comp increase if I were to be promoted up one level (one below partner).

Interested in working in PE, but experiences align more with the Ops side (3 YOE in strategic value creation). Is there a significant difference in total comp potential between ops and investments roles? Not sure how to make a case to break into investments with minimal DD experience, so thinking about Ops recruitment (Associate).
